If you have not tried Online Dating before, it is a steep learning curve, so here are a few more tips to help you get it right:-

Brief is Best
Don’t write long winded diatribes about yourself. That is a real turn off for a woman!  Keep it simple and keep it short – give only a bit of yourself away which will prompt her to ask the questions if she wants to.  Women tend to think of long winded men as either egotistical or needy; either way is not the right way.  You need to keep the dialogue fluid and telling all about yourself in the first email will find you coming to a grinding halt in the proceedings.

Sex Talk
The general perception from a female point of view, is that men are only interested in one thing – sex.  This may be true for some people, but not everyone so the canniest thing to do is not to introduce the S word.  Let the woman do that; if/once she has, then you can make a considered foray into this field.  But do not be sexually aggressive.  The idea of most dating sites is to initiate a relationship. If you only want sex, there are specialised sites that cater for this.

The Truth Will Out
When it comes to creating an online profile, refrain from lying.  Many people do, and not just on dating sites.  How many men do you know who go out ‘on the pull’ and take off their wedding rings first? It happens. But of course it is the easiest thing in the world on a dating site to make up a completely bogus profile.

The truth will out.  If you meet a woman online who you really like, you are not starting off from a great position if you have lied to her because you will have to come clean in the end, and that does not bode well for a meaningful relationship.

Don’t be tempted to try and impress a woman….if you think what you do is not exactly exciting, don’t lie about it, play up other sides of your character instead.

Less is More
You don't want to appear too needy.  Most women are turned off by needy men.  If you have gone that next step and there is a tacit understanding that this relationship could be going somewhere, then that is slightly different, but in the early stages, less is more.

Try and limit your mails, say to a couple of days and do not correspond for too long. 15 minutes at a time is enough…..cut short the conversation if it looks as if it is going to go on…play it cool. By doing this, you'll remain a bit mysterious, something that turns most women on.

One Dat at a Time
It is tempting to have a lot of ‘dates’ on the go. It feeds the ego but you will trip yourself up in the end.    Not only might you forget what you have said to whom, you will find yourself spending your entire life on the computer; which is not really the idea.

You don’t want to embarrass yourself by asking the same woman the same questions again…you are supposed to be making her feel a bit special and that means at least remembering the conversations you have had.

If you get lots of responses to your personal profile, pick a handful that sound the most interesting and leave the others. If the initial few don’t work out, you can always go back to the others at a later date.

First Date
When it comes to actually meeting, let the woman make the first move. In any event wait at least a week before suggesting a meeting. You will become much more attractive if you take your time to ask her out.  Being too keen might put her off, and she is more likely to feel you are a gentleman if you take things slowly.

Safety First
Take your time ….do not give out personal information like your telephone number until you are sure you want to go to the next level. Of course it always feels good to be pursued by lots of women, but you don’t want to find yourself in a ‘Fatal Attraction’ situation.
