My partner is very romantic….which would surprise a lot of my friends!! A chilled glass of wine waiting for me on my return from work; a pretty dress, that I once hired for a special occasion, laid out on my bed covered with rose petals! I suppose it makes up for all the time he is away working, or buying totally useless old classic cars that break down all the time.

But his all-time best was an ordinary night…I was late back from work, it had been a busy day…the train was late etc etc. I got home in the dark, tired. The house was warm, our baby daughter snugly tucked up in bed. I took my coat off. 
‘I’ve run you a bath’ he said.
‘Can I just have a glass of wine?’
No, you need to see something in the bathroom. I immediately thought he must have knocked the sink off the wall…he sits on it when I am in the bath…not a good idea when you weigh 12 stone!

I went upstairs in trepidation, into the bathroom and there was a deep, hot bubble bath; candles dotted every surface, and a bottle of pink champagne nestled luxuriously in an ice bucket along with a frosted glass.

When I told my mother the next day, she burst into tears!  So unutterably romantic she said!

Of course two days later, when I was getting dressed, I realised that half a bottle of my outrageously expensive Cartier perfume was missing. I asked my partner. ‘ Oh yes, I put that in your bath the other night!!’

A recent survey shows that what women think is romantic, is not what men think.
Expensive underwear, flowers, maybe jewellery?
None of the above!

Apparently, it is actually knowing that your man has spent some of the minutes in the day thinking about you, rather than football! That is the something that hits the spot with most women, and the top 5 are:
 
1.    Book a secret, exciting weekend away somewhere.
2.    Make her hide her eyes and reveal a lovely surprise.
3.    Tell her she is the most beautiful and amazing woman you have ever met.
4.    Write her poetry, or even a song if you are that talented
5.    Run her a relaxing bath after a bad day at work

Personally I put the relaxing bath in my number one slot, but then I’m easily pleased!!
